And We're Off!

We are off to a great start in the art room! During the first art rotation, we focused on color in art.

Kindergarteners learned about using color for emphasis in art while creating a black and white collage. They learned about the primary colors and explored what happens when primary colors mix...secondary colors! They put their color mixing skills to the test while creating string paintings.

First and Second graders worked with mixing primary colors to create secondary colors while creating Juan Miro inspired pieces.

Third graders continued working with mixing colors to create a sun catcher.  They also worked on using line, color, and space to create a name jumble.

Fourth graders created a Helen Frankenthaler inspired drip painting.  They mixed colors while creating abstract pieces.  They also worked on using line, color, and space to create a name jumble.

Fifth graders created a Marcel Duchamp inspired piece focusing on the idea of movement in art as well as color mixing.  They also created a black and white handprint using lines and shape.

Be sure to check out our hallway art displays next time you’re at Harmony.  We have some phenomenal artists!!!
